MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS

TeamViewer, the Göppingen, Germany-based provider of secure remote connectivity solutions using AI, said it acquired Ubimax, wearable computing and augmented reality solutions.

Humach, the Plano, Texas-based leading agent and technology outsourcer using AI, said it acquired InfinitAI, provider of purpose-built AI technology and conversational design interface for contact center agent assistance.

EVERSANA, the Chicago, Illinois-based provider of business services to the life science industry, said it acquired HVH Precision Analytics, a proprietary AI and predictive analytics platform.

Mediaocean, the New York City-based global system of record for the advertising world , said it acquired 4C Insights, data science and marketing technology company using AI.

Core Scientific, the Bellevue, Washington-based AI company, said it acquired Atrio, performance-critical AI and high performance computing cloud services company. In September, the company completed the acquisition of Stax Digital.

Medtronic, the Dublin, Ireland-based medical technology company using AI, said it acquired Medicrea.

In February, the company acquired Digital Surgery, the simulation and data platform using AI, according to a Hit Consultant report. In November 2018, the company acquired Nutrino Health, in part, for its AI technology.

Jobvite, the Indianapolis, Indiana-based end-to-end talent acquisition suite, said it acquired AI and data science team at Predictive Partner.

Acronis, the Schaffhausen, Switzerland-based cybersecurity company using AI, said it acquired DeviceLock, provider of endpoint device/port control and data leak prevention software.

Wipro, the Bangalore, Karnataka-based IT tech and consulting service provider using robotics, acquired  IVIA Serviços de Informática Ltda., according to Consumer Goods Technology report.

CloudMD, the Vancouver, Canada-based telemedicine company using AI, said it acquired Snapclarity Inc. Last month, the company hired Dr. Sohal Goyal as head of corporate development in Ontario.

Aico, the Oswestry, England-based fire and carbon monoxide protection firm, said it acquired machine learning and analytics firm Homelync.


FILINGS

Artius Acquisitions, the New York City-based blank check group focused on AI businesses, saw its shares go up 20 percent on its first day of trading on the Nasdaq. The company raised an upsized USD $630 million by selling 63 million shares at USD $10 each. Artius originally sought USD $525 million from an IPO for 52.5 million shares.

nCino, the Wilmington, North Carolina-based cloud-based bank operating system using AI, saw its shares go up 195 percent on its first day of trading on the Nasdaq. The company raised an upsized USD $250 million by selling 8.06 million shares at USD $31 each. nCino originally sought USD $182.4 million from an IPO for 7.6 million shares.

GoHealth, the Chicago, Illinois-based health insurance marketplace using machine learning, upsized and priced above the range to raise USD $914 million by selling 43.5 million shares at USD $21 each. GoHealth opened trading strong but finished below its issue on its first day and finished the week down 7 percent. The company originally sought USD $790 million from an IPO for 39.5 million shares at USD $18-$20 each.

Relay Therapy, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based cancer drug-discovery platform using machine learning, saw its shares go up 75 percent on its first day of trading on the Nasdaq. The company raised an upsized USD $400 million by selling 20 million shares at USD $20 each. Relay Therapeutics originally sought USD $264.6 million from an IPO for 14.7 million shares at USD $16-$18 each.

Renalytix AI, the Penarth, UK-based AI-powered kidney disease diagnostic platform, refiled for an upsized USD $89.9 million IPO of 11 million American Depositary Shares. Last month, the company originally filed an IPO for USD $86 million.

Kubient, the New York City-based AI-powered advertising platform for advertisers and publishers, refiled for an upsized USD $10.9 million IPO of 1.58 million shares at USD $5-$7 each on the Nasdaq under the symbol KBNT.

Acutus Medical, the Carlsbad, California-based maker of imaging and other products for heart disorders using robotics, said it plans to raise a placeholder for USD $75 million from an IPO on the Nasdaq under the symbol AFIB.

Applied UV, the New York City-based developer that has patented and designed a disinfection technology that uses a narrow range of UV to destroy pathogens using robotics, said it plans to raise a placeholder for USD $5 million from an IPO by selling 1 million shares on the Nasdaq under the symbol AUVI at USD $5 each.

Clip Interactive, the Boulder, Colorado-based AI-powered smartphone app for listeners, radio stations and advertisers, refiled an up to USD $9 million IPO of 1.8 million shares at up to USD $5 each.

Other deals include ReWalk Robotics, E.Merge Technology Acquisition and Ascendant Digital Acquisitions


FUNDING

UiPath, the New York City-based robotic process automation company, said it raised USD $225 in a Series E funding round led by Alkeon.

Preventice Solutions, the digital healthcare solutions and remote cardiac monitoring services company powered by deep learning and AI, said it raised USD $137 million in a Series B financing round led by Vivo Capital.

Skydio, the Redwood City, California-based U.S. drone manufacturer, said it raised USD $100 million in a Series C funding led by Next47.

Pricefx, the Munich, Germany, and the Chicago, Illinois-based business services firm using AI, said it raised USD $65 million in a Series C funding round led by Apax Digital.

In May, the company acquired Brennus Analytics, an AI pricing software startup. In December, Pricefx raised €23 million (USD $25.3 million) in a second round of a Series B financing led by Digital+ Partners and Bain. The full, two-part Series B now stands at €48 million.

Caption Health, the Brisbane, California-based medical AI company, said it raised USD $53 million in a Series B funding round led by DCVC.

Bond Financial Technologies, the San Francisco, California-based financial technology platform using AI, said it raised USD $32 million in a Series A funding round led by Coatue. In September, the company raised USD 10m in a seed round led by Canaan.

Komaza, the Nairobi, Kenya-based sustainable forestry company using AI, said it raised USD $28 million in a Series B led by Novastar Ventures.

GoSecure, the La Jolla, California-based innovator in managed detection & response using machine learning, said it raised USD $20 million in a Series E funding round led by Yaletown Partners. In May, the company hired James Kunkel as COO.

Paige.AI, the New York City-based healthcare company using AI, said it raised USD $20 million in a Series B funding round led by Goldman Sachs. In February, the company hired Dr. Leo Grady as CEO.

NowRx, the Mountain View, California-based pharmacy that uses robotics and AI, said it raised USD $20 million in a Series B funding round led by SeedInvest.com.

Traceable AI, the San Francisco,California-based end-to-end application security monitoring platform, said it raised USD $20 million in a Series A led by Unusual Ventures and BIG Labs.

Activ Surgical, the Boston, Massachusetts-based robotics company, said it raised USD $15 million in a venture round led by ARTIS Ventures. In March, the company hired former Olympus executive Todd Usen as CEO.

TileDB, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based data management company, said it raised USD $15 million in a Series A funding round lead by Two Bear Capital and Intel Capital.

Snorkel AI, the Palo Alto, California-based company focused on making AI practical, said it raised USD $15 million in a Series A funding round led by Greylock.

GYANT, the San Francisco, California-based navigation company leveraging AI, said it raised USD $13.6 million in a Series A financing round led by Wing Venture Capital.

Abacus.AI, the San Francisco, California-based research and cloud services company, said it raised USD $13 in a Series A funding round led by Index Ventures.

Movano, the Pleasanton, California-based health technology company using machine learning, said it raised USD $10 million in a bridge round led by Tri-Valley Ventures.

Seebo, the Tel Aviv, Israel-based predictive quality and yield solution for manufacturers using AI, said it raised USD $9 million in a funding round led by Ofek Ventures.

Pattern Bioscience, the Austin, Texas-based clinical microbiology platform using AI, said it raised USD $9 million in a Series B-1 funding round led by Illumina Ventures.

Hummingbird RegTech, the San Francisco, California-based provider of anti-money laundering compliance technology using machine learning, said it raised USD $8.2 million in a Series A funding round led by Flourish Ventures.

CYR3CON, the Tempe, Arizona-based AI-driven cybersecurity prediction software platform, said it raised USD $8.2 million in a financing round led by Pivotal Group.

NovaSight, the Airport City, Israel-based start-up specializing in vision care using AI, said it raised USD $8 million in a Series A financing round led by Rimonci Capital.

Green Revolution Cooling, the Austin, Texas-based data center cooling firm, said it raised USD $7 million in a Series B funding round led by private investors. In March, the company hired former Dell executive Larry Kosch as director of product marketing.

Untether AI, the Toronto, Canada-based AI chip maker, said it raised USD $7 million in a funding round led by Radical Ventures and Intel Capital.

TrackStreet, the Santa Barbara, California-based business services firm using AI, said it raised USD $5.1 million in an oversubscribed Seed-2 funding round led by Okapi Capital. In August, the company hired Jason Bennett as vice president of strategy and business development.

env0, the Sunnyvale, California-based developer of self-service cloud management software using AI, said it raised USD $3.5 million in a seed extension round led by Crescendo Venture Partners and M12.

Logically, the London, UK-based startup using AI to detect misinformation and to provide a fact-checking service to combat fake news, raised EURO €2.77 million (USD $3.16 million) in a funding round led by NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance, according to EU Startups report.

Cohesion, the Chicago, Illinois-based AI-enabled building systems platform, said it raised USD $6.5 million in a seed funding Hyde Park Angels.

MadKudu, the Mountain View, California-based predictive analytics and marketing operations firm using AI, said it raised USD $5.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Benhamou Global Ventures.

IncNut Digital, the Hyderabad, India-based data-driven media and e-commerce start-up using AI, raised USD $4 million in a Series A funding round led by RPSG Ventures, according to a Business Line report.

Deep Longevity, the San Diego, California-based biotechnology company transforming longevity R&D through AI-discovered biomarkers of aging, said it raised an unspecified amount in a Series A funding round led by ETP Ventures and the Human Longevity and Performance Impact Venture Fund.


LEGAL AND REGULATORY

UK government launched a £24 million funding to boost agricultural tech using big data, AI and robotics to different areas of farming across the country.


PEOPLE

Search With Style, the Newport Beach, California-based real estate industry search engine using AI, said it hired Brandon Hobbs as COO.

Datametrex AI, the Toronto, Canada-based AI company, said it hired Andrea Yuan as CFO. In August, the company acquired Semeon Analytics, which uses voice recognition in customer service, for CAD $3m (USD $2.3 million) in cash and stock.

Meten EdtechX Education, the Shenzhen, China-based English language training service provider using AI, said it hired Henry Wong as CFO.

Entravision, the Santa Monica, California-based global media, marketing and advertising technology company using machine learning, said it hired Stephen Chung as chief revenue officer.

CallMiner, the Waltham, Massachusetts-based provider of AI-fueled speech and customer interaction analytics, said it hired Eric Williamson as chief marketing officer.

Exabeam, the San Mateo, California-based cybersecurity firm using machine learning, said it hired Adam Geller as chief product officer. In February, the company hired Jeff Romano as chief customer success officer. In July, the company acquired Israel’s SkyFormation.

SmartSense by Digi, the Boston, Massachusetts-based remote productivity monitoring firm using AI, said it hired Steve Habermas as chief technology officer.

Aiydec, the London, UK-based AI platform for business implementation, said it hired Dr. Richard Harmon as a special advisor for "Go to market strategy" and "External partnerships” and Dr. Alessandro Abate as chief scientist officer.

Algo, the Troy, Michigan-based AI platform for sales & operations planning, said it hired Doug Grossman as senior vice president strategic development.

Malwarebytes, the Santa Clara, California-based cybersecurity company using AI, hired Jordan Ryan as international vice president of sales EMEA & APAC, according to a Realwire report. In March, the company hired Adam Hyder as senior vice president of engineering.

CarLabs.ai, the Los Angeles, California-based AI-powered intelligent virtual agent solution provider in the automotive industry, said it hired John Ruble as vice president of business development.

Robotic Assistance Devices, the Reno, Nevada-based AI firm, said it hired Mark Folmer as vice president, security & industry.

Relativity Space, the Los Angeles, California-based autonomous rocket factory and satellite launch services firm, said it hired Caryn Schenewerk as vice president, regulatory and government affairs. Last month, the company hired Muhammad Shahzad as CFO.

ProStar, the Grand Junction, Colorado-based mapping company using machine learning, said it hired Matthew Breman as vice president of marketing. In September, the company hired Peter Srajer as chief GIS scientist.

Mimecast, the Munich, Germany-based email and data security company, said it hired Klaus Seidl as vice president of the DACH region, Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). Most recently, Klaus was VP of Sales for EMEA at Loom Systems Inc. where he led their sales efforts in AI for IT-Operations.

WurkNow, the Irvine, California-based temporary staffing firm using AI, said it hired Robin Henshaw as director of product management. Last month, the company hired Andrew Zarkadas as vice president of sales.
